Who I Work With
I work with small businesses, mostly in the service industry, from my home base in St. Louis. Everything is done virtually, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re down the street or across the country.
My clients include therapy and counseling practices, food service and franchise businesses, and nonprofits. If you’d rather spend your evenings on anything other than reconciling bank accounts, we’ll probably get along.

I’ll keep your books in great shape, but that’s the bare minimum, isn’t it? I will take the time to understand your business. I’ll get to know your financial situation, your unique strengths and risks, and your goals. Then I’ll begin to shape my analysis to your needs and offer a powerful advisory resource to you. That doesn’t cost extra; it’s part of the package.
How It Works
- We talk. A free 30-minute video call. You tell me about your business and where your books stand today.
- You get your own client portal. It’s our communication hub: secure, and it keeps a record of everything we exchange. You’ll start with a short list of questions I use to set up your account.
- We get your books in order. Already using QuickBooks Online? I’ll take care of any cleanup first. Not using accounting software yet? I’ll get you enrolled, set up your chart of accounts, and catch up anything that’s behind.
- The regular routine takes over. Monthly or quarterly, depending on what your business needs. Monthly financials are typically ready within the first 10 days of the month, provided I have the documents I need.
What I Work In
- QuickBooks Online and Xero. I’m certified in both.
- Payroll. I’m certified in Gusto, which suits a lot of small businesses. I’ll also work with any major payroll system you already use, such as ADP or Patriot.
- A secure client portal for documents and messages. Nothing sensitive travels by email, and there’s an audit trail in case anything goes wrong.
- Moving off QuickBooks Desktop? I can convert your books to QuickBooks Online.
Common Questions
My books are a mess. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Cleanup and catch-up work is a regular part of what I do. I’ll get your records current, then put a routine in place so they stay that way.
Do I need to already have QuickBooks?
No. If you’re starting from a spreadsheet or a shoebox, I’ll get you enrolled, set up your chart of accounts, and take it from there.
Do you work with my CPA or tax preparer?
Yes, happily. I can hand your preparer clean, tax-ready books at year end. I also prepare business and personal returns myself, if you’d like everything in one place.
I’m not in St. Louis. Can we still work together?
Yes. I’m based in St. Louis, and everything I do is virtual, so location doesn’t matter.
How do I get documents to you?
Through your client portal. You upload receipts and statements there, and it’s where we trade questions too. It’s secure, and it keeps a record of everything.
